Autumn Events for Big Bear

Big Bear’s warm outdoor season is ending. Our entertainment choices now range from watching the fall colors change, attending Oktoberfest, to celebrating Halloween in the Village.

Since the fall colors appear to be peaking this weekend, we’ll try that first and join in with everyone else next weekend. The fall colors can be seen in the Fox Farm neighborhood, near McAllister. For a wilderness experience, hike into the Aspen Grove. Our Aspen tree leaves turn beautiful shades of yellow and orange. To visit the Aspen Grove take the Fish Creek exit off of Highway 38. Stay to the right. An off road vehicle is recommended. A wilderness pass from the Big Bear Lake Discovery Center is a must.

Oktoberfest at the Big Bear Lake Convention Center will wind down its annual celebrations with a Halloween style costume party on Saturday, October 29th. Dress up and stop in. Prizes will be awarded for the best children’s and adult costumes.

Expect a “howling” good time in the Village of Big Bear Lake on Monday, October 31st. Starting at 4:00 PM, the Village will hold its annual “Halloween in the Village” party. Costume up the kids and turn them loose. Merchants line the streets giving out candy and treats to all.

Be prepared for chilly autumn temperatures and bring a hat and gloves. One of our friends sat in Paolis, on the corner of Pine Knot and Village Drive and watched her teens enjoy the festivities.

Halloween in the Village is an opportunity to enjoy a unique small town experience.
